Q&A: How do I connect new sprinkler system to water line?

Question by Ferdous R: How do I connect new sprinkler system to water line?
Hello all,
I have done basic research & got design of my backyard sprinkler system from RainBird. My question is related to water main line connection. I have inspected my crawlspace. I have half (1/2) inch water line to my backyard bib. Water pressure is 49psi there. My main supply line came in 1 inch copper line, and then got dropped to 1/2 inch at some point. Can I attach irrigation/sprinkler system (3/4 inch PVC or poly line) to my existing 1/2 inch outlet bib? Or, do I need to extend a 1″ line to backyard, then connect it to sprinkler system? Your help is appreciated.

You need to extend your 1inch line around to your backyard. A 1/2 inch line will only feed about 2 sprinkler heads. I would check the point where the inch line goes into the house and see if you can tee off just in front of that or if you have a front yard set of valves connect on just behind them if they are one inch. If you got an official drawing from rainbird design it would have suggestions in it.
